So off I go, let the trumpets blow

All my bags are packed, I'm almost ready to go and my luggage is overweight. I think it doesn't matter whether you go for two weeks or for six months to Bangladesh - everytime we fly, our luggage is overweight. It could be something mystical but I guess it's just the fact, that I have too much stuff to carry along. And there is a lot to consider, when you leave your natural surroundings and stay in a hot, conjusted and hectical city such as Dhaka.

So the next time I post something, will be from Bangladesh, where I'll be spending half-a-year, doing an internship. I'll be arriving on February 21st. And we can start right off with a little history session: February 21st is the "International Mother Language Day" by UNESCO. It originates from the Language Movement in Bangladesh in 1952 (East Pakistan back then), when students fought for their right to speak Bangla instead of Urdu. The murdered are remembered that day and it is a nationwide celebration, honoring the sacrifice of those, who made it possible that today, I as many others am allowed to speak Bangla in Bangladesh.

Fun Fact: Bangladeshi salted cheese crackers taste sweet.

Bangladesh 101: If you want to stop a Rickshaw, simply stretch out your hand and yell in a loud voice "Ey, Rickshaw!". If it doesn't stop means you aren't loud enough.

Ey, Rickshaw!
